PERCY JACKSON AND THE SEA OF MONSTERS

Even as the Sea of Monsters has a more “rushed plot” that doesn’t mean you should skim over it, there are still many details people miss. Try and see them here.

A few new characters are introduced in the Sea of Monsters, meaning that you can’t understand the book without knowing those characters. Here they are.

Tyson, is the half-brother of Percy, and is also a cyclops. This means that Percy was originally embarrassed about a cyclops brother, but grew to him and now are good friends. As a cyclops he can wield fire and is a expert metalsmith, making Percy’s shield.

Kronos is the Lord of Titans, the “gods before the Olympians” , he was cut into a million pieces before being cast into Tartarus, the deepest, darkest place in the Underworld. He is being reborn, to topple Olympus and the gods.

The Sea of Monsters has a rushed plot, so this will be slightly shorter than the other plots I have showed you.

Perseus Jackson, now 13 has a new camp leader, the condemned Tantalus. Arriving at camp it is not only revealed that Percy’s friend, Tyson is a cyclops, but the camp is attacked by 2 massive fire-breathing bronze bulls. During dinner that day it is shown that Tyson is a son of Poseidon, Percy’s half-brother. A quest is given to Clarisse instead of Percy. During that night, Hermes visits Percy with a bottle of magic vitamins and a bag of wind. He has a dream that Grover is on the island where the Golden Fleece is.

They then decide to take the Golden Fleece to heal the poisoned camp tree, setting off to the Princess Andromeda. On board is Luke, monsters and Kronos being reborn. They then take a boat to a Half-blood hideout, a camp for demigods. There they encounter a Hydra, but are saved by Clarisse in her steamboat. They then sail to Scylla, but the ship explodes, and they escape by a lifeboat. They then turn up at Circe’s Island, escaping by taking a captives ship, a pirate ship.

They land on Polyphemus’ island and rescue Grover and take the Golden Fleece, fulfilling the journey and healing the sacred tree, revealing… Thalia.

On that note, notice Percy and how he is embarrassed by Tyson, but eventually he turns out to be a valuable friend and how Clarisse eventually saved Percy and his friends even if she didn’t want to. Never judge a book by it’s cover.
