There are many mysteries about Al Capone and his awful gang, this page is about them.

This is the deeper level on Part 1: The Rise of Al Capone, the first section of Dead Famous Al Capone.

Al capone was a Italian immigrant whose parents dreamed about America. He was regarded as lazy, stupid and criminal. He was a very large boy who beat up a american soldier when he was 14, and then eventually beating his teacher at 16 who was sent to hospital. He then decided to turn to crime. His boss was Johnny Torrio, one of the crime bigshots in Chicago. He had many crime wars with Torrio’s uncle and rival, Big Jim (killed) and the South Side O’Donnells. The South Side O’Donnells were a group of 4 Brothers and Al Capone killed all of them, ending the beer wars.

The second part of the book is shrouded in mystery and is all about: The Reign of Al Capone.

At this point there was only two bigshots in chicago: Johnny Torrio and Dion O’Banion. Dion was a crazy gangster who hated the Gennas, a gang in the syndicate of Johnny/Capone. The Gennas then assassinated Dion and there was one other gangster who could pose a threat: Hymie Weiss. He was out to get torrio and shot him 15 times. Torrio just survived and Al killed Hymie, leaving Al Capone in charge. Al then decided to pose as a nice guy to the public, and succeed well, he had parties with hundreds coming. A few came to take Capone down such as Eliot Ness.

Here is the last section of the book, the most clear and simple, still is hard to read carefully, Part 3 The Fall of Al Capone:

Al had a enemy known as Eliot Ness, a prohibition agent who tried to take Al down, but only succeeded in scratching the beast. He would go into one of Al’s beer factories and arrest all the men there and destroy all the equipment as well. He didn’t take him down as a man named Frank Wilson found out that Al had avoided his taxes. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison and died a few years later.

Al was a mysterious figure and had 2 sides, nice guy Al, or the cold killer Al. He died at 48 years old, with his son and wife next to him, due to a brain disease. After his death many tried to find his lost money but it was never found.

Dead Famous: Al Capone is worth your time and effort to read, it has information down to the pinpoint level. It also explains it in a very relatable way, and tone.
